Entry # 1 - 13 Years

Journaling: What those 13 years with were like:
1. like a roller coaster ride with all those highs and lows, financially and emotionally
2. like a garden of roses with all those beautiful moments that took our breath away like when we had Jigs and Dannah as well as those painful ones like our 2001 episode.
3. like a box of chocolate with all those bittersweet moments like when our familly was together with every homecoming as well as every parting we have had.
4. like a bottle of wine with all those intoxicating moments especially when our love was new and the headeache that it brought us sometimes.
5. like a dormant volcano with all those peaceful, quiet times and eruption of emotions in between.
6. like a song in the radio that soothed us after every tiring day but got us sick and tired when played over and over again.
7. like a long novel with all those twists and turns that excited us but at some point bored us.
8. like a pillow that gave us comfort in the night and gave us the chance to be what we are without any pretenses but sometimes suffocated us.
9. like a cup of coffee that kept us awake even in the wee hours of the morning but also gave us something to be nervous about.
10. like a cellphone that gave us the chance to communicate with one another at its peak level but also gave us something to fight about.
11. like a pair of slippers which is useless if the other one is missing. In this relationship, we are a tandem, partners, housemates, room mates, bedmates, textmates, pen pals...
12. like a precious gem that is dear to your heart, a treasure that you would never exchange for anything in this world.
13. like heaven, beautiful...eternal but you have to work hard to be able to achieve it.

Danny,
We are on our 13th year. I know our relationship is not perfect. We have our share of problems and difficulties every now and then. I just hope and pray that we will be able to hurdle those difficult moments like we always do. I love you... Timi

My SE EB Layout

Last Saturday, I had a chance to attend Scrapbook Exchange's monthly EB. It was held at Lasting Impression's Store in San Juan. I was with the LB Scrapaholics Issa, Cora,Helga, Rita, Chiqiu and Cheche. It was shopping galore from morning till afternoon but it was interrupted by that day's challenge. The challenge was to create a LO using three patterned papers from different manufacturers. Here is my take on that challenge:

I used Fancy Pants as the base of my LO, Creative Imagination (Marah Johnson), the one with the word BLISS which became part of my title, and Cosmo Cricket as matting of the photo. I also used some of my purchases of the day from Lasting Impression like the alpha brads (Spare Parts), journaling tag (MME) and MM flowers with pebble brads. The ribbons, fibers, DMC thread and lace plus the blings were from my stash. I was so glad to have bought an MM paper piercer to replace my old one. I already used it for my LO.

So lucky, I was voted second place! I have a GC to spend at Lasting Impression. Thanks Ms. Vivian! Congratulations ti Issa who got the First prize and Helga who bagged the Third Place.

Scrappin' Fundraiser for the Carmelites

Yesterday I attended the Scrappin'Fundraiser for the Carmilite nuns of Sta. Ignacia, Tarlac. at Centro Montessori, 49 Xavierville Avenue, Loyola Heights, QC. The funds raised will go to finishing the construction of their chapel which currently lacks walls and a permanent roof.

I went alone since the rest of the LB Scrapaholics cannot come. I brought with me the cards especially created by the LB girls for the said fundraising activity. The group were able to donate 50 cards (5 each from Issa, Liezl, Rita, Cors, Cheche, Ytet and myself and 10 from Yvet).

There were mini workshops/demonstrations by Nita Ang and Scrappinmoms' Idol Cabbie Lopez. There was also a Scrappin' Challenge. The theme was Acts of Charity (or ways of Helping Others Outside the Home). We were given one hour to finish one LO. Here is what I came up with:

For this LO, I used the kit provided for the challenge which contained four K and Co. papers, two Prima flowers and a chipboard shape. We were instructed to use all of the kit's contents plus other materials that we wish to add. In addition to what was provided, I also used cardstocks (bought from Memorylane and Baratilyo), KI Memories Pop Culture Chipboard Shapes - Domino(bought from Rekindled Moments), MM journaling pad (bought from Scrapbukan, shared with Ria and others), American Crafts Thickers (bought from Studio Azul, blings, buttons lace, ricrac (from my stash).

Journaling reads: Jigs, In your eyes, I see someone blessed with the beautiful virtue of CHARITY. Who would ever thought that a boy like you at your tender age with your childish ways already possesses that virtue? It was indeed a surprise when one day, you asked me to gather all your old toys and books to give them to less-fortunate children who often frequent our house. It never fails to melt my heart whenever you remind me to give alms to beggars or street children. My fervent prayer is that I'll always see the beautiful virtue os CHARITY in your eyes. Mama 03-08-2008

I was so glad that my LO won the First Prize. The Second Prize went to Darlene and Jeannie got the Third Prize. Here is what I got:

For the Auction of scrapbooking materials, I was able to get a photo album at its starting bid of PhP450 and WRMK Precious Metal Hardware which I shared with Cookie. We got the WRMK Hardware for PhP1000. I made Liezl very happy since we won the bid for the Prima Flowers in glass bottles with rack. We got it for PHP1200.

The day ended with a smile on everyone's face. We were able to shop and scrap and in so doing were able to raise some funds for the Carmelite nuns.

My Round Robin LO

I was #4 in the Round Robin Challenge. I scraplifted Mia's LO. I just followed Mia's LO, as in the same placement of all the elements - photos, journaling, title and those buttons. Of course, I used a different paper line (3 Bugs in a Rug- Smitten), color scheme (red, green and black) and embellies (flower. Mine is more feminine than Mia's.

Here is the LO:

Materials used:

Patterned papers - 3 Bugs in a Rug (Smitten), cardstock, DCWV alphabet stickers, buttons, Petaloo flowers, Uni-ball Signo pen (white), ricrac

Journaling:

Live life to the fullest. Go forward joyously. Dream together. As one family...

The year 2007 saw a new start for our family. After his 10-year stint in Saudi Arabia as an OFW, Danny decided to stay for good. This means celebrating important ocassions together as a familly, like the one in these photos. This was one of the few times when we celebrated New Year's Eve as a family. The happiness we felt was beyond compare.

Cards Galore!

I am not much of a cardmaker. The first card I made was when I was applying for a DT position months ago. The second one was during Scrapfest 4 when My Little Attic sponsored an On-the-Spot Card Making Contest which I luckily won. Here is my winning card using Around the Block pp's:

Here is my prize - a box of DCWV cards:

During my stint as a Designer Diva in Lucy Chesna's My Sketch World, we were also asked to create some cards using her sketches and here are my take on her challenge:

When I joined Iron Chef 3 at Scrappers' Haven, we were challenged to make one LO, one card and one altered item. For the three rounds that I was able to participate in (I was not able to complete the whole contest, only up to Round 3 where I was the 3rd placer), here are the cards which I have created:

Round 1 - use of paint and foam tape:

Round 2 - use of eyelets and felt:

And now, I made five cards for the March 8 Fundraiser for the Carmelites. Here are my cards:
