Not too late for a Birthday Challenge

October is my birth month but this year I wasn't able to celebrate my 38th birthday the way I wanted to. I was in the hospital on my birthday (October 12). Dannah and Jigs were hospitalized due to dengue fever (Dannah had typhoid too).It was my saddest birthday ever.

As early as September, I already had plans for my birthday:

Plan #1 - A day at Ocean Park, Mall of Asia and Star City with Jigs and Dannah. I also planned of spending the night in a hotel. I still have plans of pursuing this but maybe in December or January.

Plan #2- I would buy myself a new digital camera. With the "shocking" bill in the hospital, I have to postpone my purchase probably to December.

Plan # 3 - Celebrate my birthday with Chiqui and Ytet (also October celebrants) a day after my birthday. We'll be celebrating our birthdays with the November celebrants Helga and Cora this coming November.

Plan # 4 - A birthday challenge in this blog, which I am pursuing now. It's not yet too late, is it?

The challenge: Scraplift any of my LO's in this blog using my favorite color combination apple green and orange.

Here is a sample LO I created for the challenge during the Scrappin Moms' Idol Finals last October 4:

Photo details:

Email your layouts to mafatima_mercado@yahoo.com on or before November 30, 2008. You may also post your layout in your blog, if you have one then link it here. Don't forget to include my LO that you scraplifted. Thdere will be two prizes in store for this challenge, one will be judged by a foreign scrapbook designer which I will announce later and another one is through random drawing.

I'll be posting a photo of the the prizes/RAKs that I will be giving away one of these days. Can't wait to see what you come up with. Goodluck and have fun!

SK Marathon @ 9

I am joining SK Marathon @ 9.

The first challenge by Teacher Jessy is to scrap about one's favorite outfit.

Here's mine:

Materials used: Patterned papers- K and company (Brenda Walton) and DCWV; DCWV cardstock, silk flowers and leaves; DCWV alpha stickers; diecut alphabet (RED), buttons, lace, DMC thread, glitter glue, Piggy Tales taglets, brads

Journaling reads Hidden behind the photos:

Once upon a time, there was a lady named Timi who hated the color red. Anything red she disliked – red clothes, red shoes, red bags, anything red! She vowed that she would never wear anything that was red. She found this color too loud for her personality, too glaring and too flashy. For a time, she was into browns and dark blues.
One day, when she was shopping for clothes, she noticed this red blouse, as if inviting her to try it on. She tried it on and it fitted her just right. To her surprise, it looked beautiful on her. With that red blouse on, her face glowed. It put the sweetest smile on her lips like never before. That was the first red blouse she bought and wore. From then on, whenever she shopped for clothes she would always consider red, a color she used to hate but learned to love. And now if you look at her closet you will find more of reds than any other color!

Savvy N Sassy Ribbons

One of the favorite scrapbooking sites I visit is the Canada-based Savvy N Sassy (SNS). Their slogan - Savvy N Sassy - for all your ribbon needs. It is ribbon kit club, the only one I know so far. I began visiting their site sometime last May and since then I became an active member, joining their monthly contests and challenges and just recently their Diva-licious Crop held last September.

I've already won in one of their challenges before (ABC Challenge) and got a ribbon kit (plus other items) as my prize. I also won in their August Ribbon Kit Contest for my layout Indulge. Just last week while we were in the hospital, I received this:

Yesterday, I received anothe ribbon kit for winning in one of the challenges I joined in their recenly concluded crop. For the crop, I was able to complete 14 challenges, 8 make and takes and 3 classes. Here is my prize:

I'm loving all those purples...

Here are some of the projects I completed for the Diva-licious Crop:

I also finished several LO's during the crop. Oh I just love crops! It enables me to finish a lot of projects and deal with my backlogs.
