Inspired by Sketches
I found inspiration in Creative Scrappers Sketch #81, #82, #83 and #84 in making these layouts:
Sketch # 81 - LBS Couples
Materials used: patterned papers - Lilybee, MME, Teresa Collins; Bazzill cardstock, KI Memories lace cardstock, Creative Imaginations chipboard, American Crafts thickers, ribbons, felt, bling
Journaling: LB Scrapaholics Christmas party became a family affair this year. We hope to continue with this tradition every year. Although we missed Danny, Bobot, cors and Dedz, it was still a blast.
Sketch # 82 - Christmas 2009
Materials used: patterned papers - Daisy D's, Hot Off the Press, Lilybee, Making Memories; KI Memories lace cardstock, Fancy pants pompoms, American Craft thickers, ribbons, wooden and resin embellies, buttons, bling.
Sketch #83 - The Sweetest Thing
Materials used: patterned papers - Lily Bee, Webster Pages, Bella Boulevard; Prima trellis, ribbons, American crafts thickers, Queen and co felt, KI Memories brads and pearls, stickers.
Sketch #84 - Kids @ Heart
Materials used: MME pattrened papers and diecuts, American Crafts Thickers, AAS brads and pearls, lace, Hamblt transparency, ribbon

Scrap Inspire Create's December Challenge and more
December challenge at Scrap Inspire Create is up! This month's challenge is to use kraft paper but there's a twist...no photos and use at least three non-scrapbooking embellishments.
Here's my take:
I used the negative of GCD Studios journaling die cuts. Thus, I'm also entering this to Method Playground's Challenge #55 to use negative space..

I made it to the last round
I was in Tarlac City when i learned that I made it to the last round of the Scrappin' Moms Idol 3 together with 11 talented ladies:
Here's my entry for Week 5 to create a handmade book inspired mini album:
the albums's cover...
the pages...
front and back cover, hidden journaling and the book...
my ATC's...
How my chosen book inspired me: I used the book entitled Spiritual Connections by Sylvia Browne published in 2007 as inspiration for my mini book. Thus, the title of my mini book My Connections (see front cover where I made a shaker). Browne’s book is about each relationships a person may have in a lifetime (or many lifetimes) – from family, friends, lovers to enemies, co-workers, schoolmates or even himself. This book also explains how these countless people have an effect in one’s life, no matter how fleeting, aggravating or toxic it may have seemed.
For my mini book, I did 10 pages including the title page (four 2- page spreads and 2 single pages) sharing my different connections/relationships with the important people in my life in this lifetime – my family in pages 1 and 2 (Chapter 3: Family Members), my husband Danny in pages 3 and 4( Chapter 4: Romantic Partners), my children in pages 5 and 6 (Chapter 3: Family Members), my friends in pages 7 and 8 (Chapter 5: Other Loved Ones... on Earth are on the other side). I also included a page showing my connection with myself in page 9 (Chapter 6: Our selves). I took a line or two from each of the above chapters and used these for my “exposed” journaling as I also have hidden journaling. But to make it more personal, I also wrote letters to my family, Danny, Jigs and Dannah and LB Scrapaholics. These are tucked inside in between the mini album pages (see attached photo).
For the ATC’S, I made one for the cover page with the subtitle I am connected and two more to contain the chosen lines from the book chapter (see attached photo).
Journaling:
Exposed journaling:
Page 1 – Family brands our souls and impacts our entire lives.
Page 4 – Love is pure and spiritual.
Relationships in any form shouldn’t be hard. If they are, something is wrong.
Page 6 – A boy is a son until he takes his wife.
A daughter is a daughter all her life.
Page 8 – Friends are priceless gifts.
Page 9 – Take a few minutes to form a unity with nature, as it truly is an elixir for the soul.
My hidden journaling (tucked in between the mini album pages)
For pages 1 and 2:
To my dear family,
I know we are faced with so much challenges at this point in our lives and it brings me so much pain. But the good thing about it is that we are facing these TOGETHER...
Tatay, I pray for your full recovery from your stroke.
Nanay, stay strong and healthy. You are indeed the light that shines in our home. I don’t know what I’ll do without you.
Jayvee, Dominic and Jerome, we are all grown-ups now. I hope you will be able to achieve your goal in life. Stay with our family and never leave. Jayvee and Jerome, be good fathers and husbands to your children and wives. Dominic, I pray for your happiness in whatever direction you wish to go.
Che and Pau, thank you for taking care of Tatay. You are a big help to our family. Che, as you start your family, I do hope you’ll learn from the mistakes of those older than you. Pau, hold on to your dreams for I’m confident that you’ll go places.
To my nephews, Goboy, Gavin, Gero and Ziggy, you bring me so much joy. I pray that you grow up to be the persons you want to be! Be good boys!
Love,
(Ate/Tita) Timi
For pages 3 and 4:
My dearest Danny,
We’ve been through a lot in the 14 years that we’ve been together. But I’m proud to say that we surpassed them all. I always thank the Lord for giving YOU to me and the kids. We are so lucky to have you. Always remember that I love you no matter what always and in all ways! Missing you and I’m waiting for your homecoming.
Forever,
Mie
For pages 5 and 6:
My dearest Jigs and Dannah,
How time flies! Both of you are growing up so fast. I still remember years back when you were still babies, so dependent on me for all your needs. Now that you’re in your teens, Jigs and in your pre-teens, Dannah, I know it’s time to let go and accept the fact that you are no longer my babies. But just the same, always remember that I love you now, I’ll love you tomorrow, the way I loved you yesterday. Be good!
Mama
For pages 7 and 8:
My precious friends,
I thank the Lord the day you came into my life. For the longest time, I missed having friends. But when you all came, you made me feel how to have friends again and be a friend.
Thank you for all the support, and for sharing the passion for scrapbooking with me. Looking forward to more themed parties and photo ops with you. LOL!
Love,
Timi

SM Idol 3 Week 4, etc. etc.
I'd like to share my entry to SM Idol 3 Week 4 which asked us, contestants to do the following:
#1 Use the word, "PLAY" to inspire you on your layouts.
It does not have to be your title or even part of your journaling.
Use the word to inspire you on your theme.
#2 “PLAY” with your patterned papers and embellishments!
Alter AT LEAST one of the patterned papers you are going to use on your layout.
How do you alter? You can punch holes, you can doodle on it, spray glimmer mist, paint it, make it look entirely different! Something that we wouldn't recognize the paper you have used.
Alter AT LEAST one kind of embellishment you are going to use on your layout.
How? Add brads or blings on your buttons, or apply rub-on on your ribbons, punch shapes on your chipboard etc.
#3 We want to see photos AT PLAY, not necessarily kids playing. You can scrap about you and your hubby at play! Be imaginative when you PLAY.
#4 Use any (or all if you wish) of these colors:
- Yellow
- Orange
- Teal
My take:
How I altered my patterned papers:
How I altered the Prima felt embellishment:
Description of my LO:
For the photos, I chose ones that showed the LB Scrapaholics "at play in front of the camera". These were taken during our annual Easter Egg Hunting last April 2009. While our kids were busy playing, we didn't let the chance pass and played, too. What better way to play but to have our photos taken while having fun with our different poses. I incorporated 4 photos on my LO to showcase our different poses in front of the camera.
As for the papers, I altered two patterned papers (Fancy Pants and Pink Paislee). For the Fancy Pants pp, I stamped the border of the paper with yellow acrylic paint using a mesh, after which I painted with crackle paint. When the paints dried up, I distressed the portion with paint using a nail file. For the Pink Paislee pp, I did some masking (I placed swirl chipboards on two sides of the paper, opposite each other then used blowpens to achieve a misting effect.), stamping (flowers using bronze ink, swirls using orange ink and the border using black ink), doodling ( see the bigger stamped flower), and addition of glitter glue to the flower center.
As for the embellishment, I painted the all black Prima felt with different colors, green for the leaves, yellow for the flowers (also added some glitter glue), blue for the bird and brown for the branches.
I chose to use all the three colors required. These colors may be seen in the papers and embellishments used.
Materials used: Patterned papers - Fancy Pants, Pink Paislee, Cosmo Cricket and Provo Craft; cardstock - Bazzill; alphabets - My Little Shoebox, American Crafts Puffy Thickers, Heidi Swapp chipboards; Prima felt and flowers (teal and green), Imaginsce Tiger lily flower (yellow), Petaloo flower (orange), metal conchos, AAS pearl, trim, lace, mesh, blings, DMC thread, medium used - acrlylic paint (Making Memories), inks (colorbox, versafine), diamond glaze, blowpens, crackle paint, glitter glue
Journaling: When big girls play (title)... it spells FUN and SILLINESS! Laughter is all over the place. It feels like they're in their teens again. It means forgetting about their blues. April 2009, Humanties, UPLB.
Luckily, I made it to the next round together with these fab ladies:
Next I'd like to share my DT layouts for Dotty Divas and Pile it on.
For Dotty Divas' Ad Challenge #1:Here's the first ad:
and my take:
For Pile it on's Challenge #8 to use watercolors:
Finally got to use my Prima Paintables. It was my first time to use watercolors in my LO. I'm combining this challenge with the following:
Coordinates Collection July Scrap Challenges - Week 3 Let it Shine
A Peek into Yesterday PDT Challenges - Week 3 to use floral patterned paper
Dreamgirls Challenge blog - Challenge 32 Measure it Up
Dotty Divas - Challenge #1

SM Idol Week 3 plus my PIO layout
I made it to Week 4 of the Scrappin' Mom's Idol Season 3 contest together with these great ladies:
Here's my entry for the Week 3 to use white space and eight photos with the theme celebrating everyday moments:
Details of my LO:
To achieve white space, I concentrated my photos, embellishments and journaling on the right side of the layout, arranged the eight (8) photos from top to middle of the LO. To make the design assymetrically balanced I incorporated some embellishments on the top left side of the LO. As for the theme, I chose the item "what makes you happy" on the list and looked for 8 items that make me happy, also from the list.
Journaling:
Exposed - a listing of my natural highs
1. sunrise
2. flowers in bloom
3. favorite pasta
4. a leafless tree
5. favorite treat
6. feet on sand
7. fine work of art
8. clouds
Hidden - hidden beneath the photos
There are certain things that give me the natural high like (1) seeing the sunrise by the sea (Hundred Islands), (2) flowers in bloom in all its slendor (Baguio City), (3) my favorite pasta (Joe's Pasta, LB, Laguna), (4) a leafless tree in all its majesty (Hundred Islands), (5) a favorite treat just like these colorful cupcakes, pleasing to the eyes as well as to the tastebuds (Dannah's 12th birthday), (6) my feet on the sand (Hundred Islands), (7) a fine work of art like this glass mosaic (Naga Cathedral), (8) clouds in the sky and being close to it (Zest-air to Naga from Manila).
Materials used: patterned papers - October Afternoon, My Little Shoebox and Fancy Pants, alpha stickers: My Little Shoebox and All About Scrapbooking, journaling cards - October Afternoon (makes me happy and numbers) and MME Bohemian, flowers - Prima and All About Scrapbooking (felt), American Crafts Thickers (puffy), Maya road chipboard bird, artificial leaves, paper and crocheted doilies, lace and trims, button, All About Scrapbooking pearl conchos, blings, blowpens, inks, glitter glue, DMC threads, tulle, staple wires, MM acrylic paint
And now for my DT work at Pile it on:
This week's challenge is to use mostly orange in your layout, card or altered item. I'm combining this challenge with Coordinates Collection July Scrap Challenges for Week 3 and A Peek Into Yesterday's July PDT Challenges Week 1.
BTW, I'd like to announce that my friend Issa Lucido made it top the top three scoops for her LO Why for last week's sketch challenge. Congrats, Issa!
And one more thing, please drop by the Dotty Divas blog for a teaser of the first ad challenge this coming week.
